"How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace and bring glad tidings of good things!"
What a privilege it is for God's people individually and collectively as a church to proclaim the gospel of peace! It is indeed a message of glad tidings and good things.
The gospel message is the message that people desperately need today. They will not hear glad tidings of good things on the evening news or by reading the newspaper or TIME Magazine. They will hear and read only of dark and foreboding and depressing news of those things in which sinful man is involved. But we have a message to tell to the nations! It is a message of how one can have the peace of God and be at peace with God. The message of salvation and the forgiveness of sin is certainly one of glad tidings and good things.
Of course, only as people hear it and believe it can the message be glad and good! Paul sets forth for his readers a "Gospel Chain" as one commentator described it. Any break in the chain prevents the message from being heard and accepted. "Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved," Paul writes (Romans 10:13). But how can one call on Him of whom they have not believed? How can they believe if they have not heard? How can they hear without someone to tell them? (The word "preacher" in Romans 10:14 means to 'herald a message; to proclaim.' In this sense, all can preach!). Finally, how can anyone proclaim the word unless they are sent to speak the message?
Those who preach and proclaim the gospel of peace have beautiful feet - they partner with God for the salvation of men. "The feet speak of activity, motion and progress, and those who are active and moving in the work of preaching the gospel have beautiful feet!"
Praise the Lord for a church like Woodcrest, whose aim and purpose is to spread the gospel to our community and the world wiht our mouth and our money! May God give us strength, courage, and faith to do even more until the return of our Savior.
