Due to the extreme cold on the day when the children's Christmas Program was scheduled to take place, we have rescheduled it for today! The Christmas decorations are still up, Christmas music will be heard, and the wonderful story of the birth of Jesus will be presented by the children. The birth of Christ brought God down to man. And while many religions of the world give lip service to this event as an historical fact, Biblical Christianity is unique among the religoons of the world. In a recent article in the Foundation magazine, Matt Costella writes:
"In its simplest form, two facets or charactieristics of biblical Christianity set it apart from every other world religion. 1) Salvation is by grace through faith alone (as opposed to salvation/eternal life/reward attained through some effort of merit of the individual); 2) Man has the ability to personally know God and have a relationship with Him (as opposed to God being too transcendent or only a state of mind or whatever we make Him to be). God's word tells us that salvation comes to those who believe (John1:12) - not to whose who work; and the Bible also says that God is a personal Being who came to earth to dwell among men (John 1:14). This is not the religinon of the Muslim, the Biddhist, or the Hindu, nor is it the religion of the Catholic or the liberal Protestant. Biblical Christianity is narrow and exclusive, yet it is truth and life. The first chapter of the Gospel of John highlights the glorious reality concerning what sets biblical Christianity apart from every other religion."
We can and should celebrate the coming of Christ to be the Savior of the world every single day! Without His virgin birth, sinless life, sacrificial death, and triumphant resurrection, we would have no hope of eternal life. Praise the Lord for His mercies and grace.
